Last updated 30 July 2026 · Applies to the HonestLee Android app (com.honestlee.app) and honestlee.app
This policy explains exactly what the HonestLee app collects, why, who it is shared with, and how to get it deleted. We have tried to describe what the software actually does rather than list every category we might conceivably use.
HonestLee helps people find and use venues — restaurants, cafés, bars and street vendors — primarily in Vietnam. The app shows venues on a map, offers digital menus in multiple languages, connects you to venue Wi-Fi, lets you review places, and lets venue operators and mobile street vendors publish their location and offerings.
| Data | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Precise location | Show venues near you; target Wi-Fi auto-connect; venue check-ins; confirm you are at a venue when you leave a review; and — for vendor accounts only — record the vendor's selling route so customers can find them. | Only after you grant location permission. |
| Name and email address | Create and secure your account. | When you sign in with Google. |
| Photos you choose | Attach photos to reviews, venue listings and your profile picture. Where a photo carries location data, we read it to place the photo at the right venue. | Only the individual photos you pick. We never scan your gallery. |
| Wi-Fi network details | Network names and identifiers, plus the results of speed tests you run, so we can show which venues have usable Wi-Fi and connect you automatically. | While using Wi-Fi features. |
| App diagnostics | Crash and behaviour logs so we can fix faults. Includes a randomly generated install identifier, the app version, and your connection type. | While using the app. |
| Notification token | Send you the notifications you asked for — for example a waiter call, or an event you follow. | If you allow notifications. |
| Activity in the app | Reviews, bookmarks, saved venues and events, loyalty points and referrals — the things that only work by being remembered. | As you use those features. |
Two different things use location and it is worth separating them:
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, only to run the service:
| Provider | Role |
|---|---|
| Google LLC | Google Sign-In, push notification delivery, Play services |
| Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) | Relays push notifications to your device |
| Mapbox, Inc. | Map imagery. Receives your IP address and the map area requested. |
| Neon, Inc. | Our database |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Photo and file storage, content delivery, website hosting |
| Fly.io, Inc. | Hosts our API (Singapore) |
We may also disclose data where we are legally required to, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
We operate from the United Arab Emirates and serve users mainly in Vietnam, but the providers above process data in other countries, including Singapore, the United States and the European Union. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual protections offered by those providers.
Some things are public by design, and you should know which: reviews and review photos you post, your display name and profile picture as shown on reviews, and — for vendor accounts while set to “Open” — your current location and route. Ordinary users' locations are never shown to other users.
You can withdraw any permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → HonestLee → Permissions. Features that depend on it will stop working, and nothing else will break.
You may ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, or stop a particular use of it. Write to privacy@honestlee.app and we will reply within 30 days.
HonestLee is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Your sign-in token is held in Android's encrypted keystore on your device. Access to production data is restricted to the people who need it. No system is perfect, and we will not claim otherwise — if we discover a breach affecting you we will notify you and the relevant authority as required.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top, and for anything significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
